DAYS OF THE WEEK GALLERY
Days of the Week
The "Days of the Week" series came after
the Calendar paintings. I was trying to imagine what the beginning of time might have looked like, day by day.
In some of the paintings, there are areas where I also imagine early forms of mark making as the beginnings of
recorded language.
The oval is a form I have used repeatedly over the years. In my earliest paintings it may have represented a tabletop
or an island. Later, a pond, an egg or a stone.
In researching it's various symbolic meanings, the one that resonates most with me, is the one in which it speaks
to the idea of potential.
